Little Sable Point Lighthouse with the Milky Way

In early October 2020 I wanted to capture the Little Sable Point Lighthouse under the Milky Way before the Milky Way core moved below the southern horizon for the winter. As I was taking the photos used to create this image I realized there was a little wildfire smoke visible along the horizon. Although I was initially concerned about the smoke ruining the image, it had a fascinating effect of enhancing the glow of city lights across Lake Michigan in a translucent, illuminated haze along the horizon.

Prints are available to purchase by clicking the image above or by visiting lakes-of-michigan.com.
